PhyOSC is a specialized application designed to facilitate dynamic sound control during exercise using Apple Watch sensors. It translates body movements into audio modifications, adding an interactive dimension to workout sessions that transcends traditional music playback.

Key features of PhyOSC include:

<ul>
<li>Receiving Core Motion data from Apple Watch via an iPhone, which processes the sensor information and twelve predefined arm movement patterns—recognized through machine learning—and converts them into OSC messages. These messages are then transmitted to specified IP addresses and port numbers linked to digital audio workstations (DAWs).</li>
<li>Application of digital filtering options during the conversion process, allowing refinement of the incoming motion data prior to OSC transmission.</li>
<li>Ability to label and save different filter settings. Users can instantly recall and switch between configurations—for example, associating a particular arm movement with a cheering sound effect or a drum kick. This flexibility enables diverse sonic expressions, including waveform modifications within the oscillator settings. Additionally, the destination IP address and port for OSC messages can be configured per setting, facilitating seamless switching between DAW devices.</li>

System requirements for optimal operation include:

<li>Apple Watch running watchOS 8 or later; Apple Watch Series 5 or newer recommended.</li>
<li>iPhone running iOS 15 or later; iPhone 8 or newer recommended.</li>

It is important to acknowledge that machine learning recognition accuracy is not absolute. Variations in arm movement speed and angle may lead to occasional misclassification. Continuous research efforts aim to enhance recognition precision through exploring emerging methodologies.
